Stiaan Louw | Transitional collection editorial

When one hears the name Stiaan Louw, words such as bold, intricate,androgynous and over the top menswear design, may spring to mind, Following the provocative and controversial  PLASTIEK, his latest offering titled The transitional collection, moves away from the Stiaan Louw aesthetic we became familiar with and focus more on wearibity. The transitional collection feature pieces that can be worn in any South African season from geometric insert Tshirt, speckled rayon cardi with floppy pocket detailing to textured linen and pure silk shorts. L'Ormarins Queen's Plate 2013

It was an elegance of occasions, while a burst of  all things blue and white reflected over the Kenilworth racecourse as thousands gathered for the prestigious 152nd L'Ormarins queen's plate. Fashions, entertainment and a variety of hospitality on offer  made for perfect place to share good wine with friends while enjoying the races.

I for one, finally broke my virginity to this calendar affair and actually learnt a thing or two about horses racing, sadly the horse my bet was on came out 6th in the million rand race, However It was nothing a bottle of the new L'Ormarins Brut Classique couldn't fix, I got a bit tipsy and It was back to doing what I was there for in the 1st place, fashion, fashion and more fashion. It was truly a fun day.

London Collections | Vivienne Westwood AW13

To celebrate the London Collections menswear fashion week, Vivienne Westwood previewed her A|W13 men collection in an installation event hosted with Harrods. Inspired by today's urban commuter - the post-apocalyptic vision, the installation urged guests to Join the Climate Change Revolution and featured revelutionary sculptures by Joe Rush, created from recycled metals and other found objects. The complete collection will be showcased at Milan menwear fashion week next week.

London Fashion Week | Topman Design AW13

Topman design showcased a collection inspired by a modern explorer at the London collections A|W13. The collection tells a story of a modern day travelling man who journeys around the world and draws cultural influences from his travels and incorporates the in his look. The showcase opened with varying shades of muted and subtle tones of soft whites and creamed coffee, joined by warm and deep palettes of orange and burnt auburn to shades of red and navy-blue. The collection featured crisp over-sized parkas and backpacks, loose pants and turtlenecks in tones mentioned above. Although the collection is a bit heavy for a South African winter, I am still looking forward to it reaching our shores.
