Stiaan Louw | SLA2 Homme Boy

By now you must have gathered that, I am a great fan Stiaan Louw's work from Atletiek to the more recent Lace and leather offering. SLA2 is a somewhat extension to Atletiek fusing Homo-eroticism with Sport-luxe influences. While the everyday South African men might some of his collections to be too provocative, Stiaan Louw's maintains his creative artistic expression to bring a collection that is not only wearable but unique. The SLA2 collection features key pieces such as, animal and tropical hybrid printed track pants, animal print fitted vest which is on my wish list and other pieces which draw inspiration from the streets of Cape Town.

Do keep an eye out on the SLA2 fashion film coming out somewhere this week, for a more homo-erotic experience.

 A bold and provocative use of lace with a touch of leather explores the feminine side of the South African man. When one hears the name Stiaan Louw, words such as bold, intricate,androgynous and over the top menswear design, may spring to mind, Following the provocative and controversial  PLASTIEK, his latest offering titled The transitional collection, moves away from the Stiaan Louw aesthetic we became familiar with and focus more on wearibity. The transitional collection feature pieces that can be worn in any South African season from geometric insert Tshirt, speckled rayon cardi with floppy pocket detailing to textured linen and pure silk shorts. We've seen the teaser and video campaign for Stiaan Louw's Atletiek going viral on the interweb, the anticipation and suspense to see the full campaign was almost as viral. Well the wait is no more, finally the campaign images are here and we totes in love.  Provocative and Controversial, are just few the few words one can describe the teaser campaign from one of South Africa's ground breaking, contemporary menswear designer Stiaan Louw. Titled  Atletiek, the pre-collection will feature classic menswear pieces with a bit of a twist, from texture clashes and bespoke tailoring  to sport luxe with yet another collaboration with missibaba.

Contemporary South African designers, Stiaan Louw, Heni Este-Hijzen and Laduma Ngxokolo took on Vauxhall Fashion Scout at London fashion week as part of the Ubuntu project which aim to give South Africa  designs  a  global platform. All designers gave strong collections with a great African heritage aesthetic, that will indeed put South African designs on a world map.
