I have always had great admiration for the brand adriaan Kuiters, mainly ( more now than before) for the new approach to South African menswear, which seems to be a somewhat of a transition from the aesthetic we came to know three years ago. What began as a mere admiration turn into a strong love affair when the collaboration with my once upon a crush, artist Jody Paulsen began amid the MBFWCT last year.
#MBFWCT | Adriaan Kuiters
12 August 2013
Set at the Iziko National Gallery in Company Gardens, Adriaan Kuiters show created an intimate atmosphere with a London like feel. Amidst all the bold local paintings and given my developing love for all things art, I greatly feared that the S/S13 collection would fade amongst the art pieces, quite contrary, although muted and minimalistic, the clever use of all voluminous embracing sleeves, fabric choices and styling gave the collection a striking definition. Adriaan Kuiters also showcased women's collection for the 1st time, to couple with the menswear, offering a simply light, well constructed collection with a sense harmonious androgyny.
