StreetStyle: Menwear fashion week.

1 July 2011

Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani is not a fan of men dressing in high fashion, She was quoted in the recent British Vouge interview saying "I dislike men in fashion. I don't like it when a man dresses as a fashionista. I don't think it's attractive at all. Women in fashion, on the other hand, are very attractive. Women can always make you dream." While I find her statement to be rather an insult to men who are pioneers of style (Think: Andrej Pejic and Marc Jacobs), Men in fashion contnue to inspire me, here are some on my favourite street styles as seen in recent #PFW and #MFW.

Vodacom Durban July: Royal Simplicity.

The 2nd of July marks yet another extravagant day at the races the Vodacom Durban July. The ever so popular event is synonymous for it's vibrant fashion and style, where fashion enthusiast and designers get to show offt heir definition of style.

Royalty has certainly been and still is one of the Major trending subjects (Think royal wedding) in the world and this years Vodacom Durban July Theme. Although the term royalty my raise thoughts of dramatic elegance and sophistication, I strongly feel that simplicity is key and speaks volumes.

The royal affair is not only limited to William and Kate, there are many other royalties around the world, from Indian to African. Identify which works for you and keep it simple, add definition and accentuate with accessories.

Here are some of the images from the innovative young designer challenge, although a bit avant garde toning the garments down will give you an idea on my vision.
